The 3rd team slumped to another defeat after another dreadful (but not unusual) batting collapse.

Blackers maintained his ability at losing the toss, but Blackhall put themselves in a position to reach a good total, only to blow it.

Smith got a few up top before tamely chipping one to cover, Browny failed, Lamby was out bizarrely, but a rusty Anth Darby & Blackers chipped in & got us to 110-3 with around 20 overs to go.

Which became 116 all out in the 36th over. Horrendous. But not totally unexpected amongst seasoned 3rd team watchers.

Brian Weatherall was the main beneficiary, picking up possibly the easiest 5-for of his career as he registered figures of 5-4. Neil Pearson bowled well throughout for his 3 wickets.

Seaton's reply centred around yet another obdurate Gough, the 14 year old Liam who basically just blocked the sh*t out of it for almost 50 overs to make his uncles very proud.

We have a theory that Gough youngsters are punished as children if they show too much aggression with the bat and their schooling consists of Maths, English and Blocking.

Nevertheless he did a job for his team. Aldo bowled very well for his 3 wickets, Dickie didn't for his two, and young Dan Routledge bowled another very promising first spell up the bank.

Aldo's little burst of wickets gave Blackhall hope as the visitors wobbled at 83-6, but Weatherall staked his claim for MOTM by compiling a sensible 17 not out to see his side home with Gough who remained unbeaten on 33 from 15,574 balls.

"Well, if we'd batted our 45 overs......."

Same old story.

Surely Liam can't have faced that many balls?
